Well the 2009 TORI Awards have been announced in Orlando Florida at Career Directors International’s Career Summit and I’m proud to say that I maintain the record as the only member of the Career Directors International association to have won TORI Awards across nine consecutive years. Talk about professional pressure! This year I was honoured with two Third Place awards for the categories of Best Creative Resume and Best New Graduate Resume. I also received nominations for Best Executive Resume and Best Technical Resume. Congratulations to all the other winners. It’s truly wonderful to see so many talented professionals out there creating powerful, inspiring and interview-winning documents for clients. A win for the industry and for the clients we serve!

I’m pleased to report that I’ve just been nominated for four TORI Awards (TORI stands for Toast of the Resume Industry). Nominations were for Best Executive Resume, Best Graduate Resume, Best Creative Resume and Best Technical Resume. The Awards are announced in Career Directors Conference Awards Ceremony in October.

First-ever World’s Best Resume Writer winner’s announced!

Last year, Career Directors International embarked on a unique competition to find find the World’s Best Resume Writers. The competition was open to any English-writing individual in the world who wanted to try their hand at professional resume writing. It was standardised by providing all candidates the same note files.

Two separate competitions were hosted with industry professional judges and the general public:

• Panel of Industry professionals selected their top three nominees and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
• Public voters (via Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter) selected their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from the top three nominees.

I’m thrilled to announce that three nominations for a Toast of the Resume Industry award (TORI) announced earlier in the year, resulted in a second place for Best Career Re-entry Resume and a third place in the Best Technical Resume category. This now means that I have won TORI awards for eight consecutive years–the first and only resume writer to have achieved this honour. President of Career Directors International Laura DeCarlo, sponsoring the awards indicated that in many cases only one point separated the nominations so it was a tight race indeed–and through this competition to excel, our clients come out the clear winners.
